So I ran across this while browsing through the Autotrader. It's a 1985 Buick Riviera T-Type, with a turbocharged V6. And it looks cool. That is literally all I know about it. I would assume that the engine is a 3800 engine, which I know to be reliable, but I didn't know they did a turbo version, or how that affects reliability. I would be interested in this car as a first car and a daily driver, so any info anyone can offer me would be greatly appreciated! Also, while your at it, NPoCP? How much is this car really worth?
Also, on a side note: I have a list of cars I am looking at, and every time I post a link to one, it gets sold. None of the other ones are selling, just the ones I post questions about. In the order that I post them. STOP BUYING THESE THINGS OUT FROM UNDER ME PEOPLE!

I did notice that, funny enough. I like to think of it as a budget GNX, but I'm not sure.

I'd DD it. It may be Wrong Wheel Drive (WWD from now on) but it is very clean and it has the proper number of doors.

This car won MT's Car of the Year award for '79. The turbo V6 is a legend even in a (longitudinal) FWD car. The aftermarket paint job isn't to my taste, but the '79-85 Rivs will be collectible someday. They're quiet, fairly refined for the day, good to drive, and reliable. The turbo adds a bit of fun to that equation.

1985 was the final year for this generation of the Riviera. It was introduced in 1979. The T-Type replaced the standard 307 (Olds) V8 with the 3.8L Turbo. It was rated at 190hp @ 4000rpm and 300ft-lbs of torque @ 2400rpm and mated to the 4-speed Turbo-Hydramatic 325-4L automatic. The T-Type also included a 'gran touring suspension', sport steering wheel and sport wheels.
Have you thought about a 1985-1987 Olds Cutlass 442?

Not really. To be honest, I hadn't really thought about this. I just ran across it and thought it looked cool. I haven't looked at much else like it, because normally cars like this aren't my thing. But this one caught my eye. Thanks for the info though!

Essentially the same motor as the 84/85 Regal T-Type and Grand National. Similar mods can easily make more power. Can modify to use the 86/87 Regal T/GN ECM, which was used in other FWD GM 3.8L cars as well. Suggest updating to the 86/87 coil and module, which are more commonly available.
Can break axles if you turn things up too much.

Should also have the ultra-reliable Hydroboost brakes.
